Twilight Zone

A time of shadows and slow emergence. Falling, fragmenting—and finding fuel in the dark.

While curating The Beginning and navigating the weight of grief and exhaustion, I found myself
making again—new work built from old foundations. Artefacts that marked not only my evolving
skillset, but my slow return to something resembling direction.

This period spans from 2015 to 2020. It consists of 75 artefacts—drawings, visual notations,
and quiet reflections from the in-between.

Trials and TribulationsBono Mourits, Extra Extra, read all about it.After the shattering loss of my brother in 2013, life became survival. I burned out.
I became lost inside myself. My body was present—but I wasn’t.
Shattered, ink drawing made in 2017.

Escapism became my way of coping: playing 16 hours of Bungie’s Destiny each day
to shoot away the pain, drowning in alcohol, lifting myself up with Mary Jane.

Unreachable to planet Earth, voidwalking my way through existence,
life began to deteriorate around me. Eventually, I knew I had to make a choice:

Deal with my shit… or drown in it.

The Sketchbook and the SparkBono Mourits, Extra Extra, read all about it.Since childhood, I’ve always kept sketchbooks close. Even in my darkest seasons,
I returned to them. Not for anyone else. Just to stay human.

Sometimes I drew with no intention—just pencil on paper. Quiet reflection. Silent
protest. Not always to reflect the pain, but to keep something alive through it.

It became a light that grew into a beacon, gradually guiding me out of the cave
I’d come to live in. A map out of the fog.

Prayer, 2018, Drawing from Twilight Zone by Bono Mourits

The act of showing up—again and again—gave shape to the silence.
And eventually, it gave me something to follow.

Drawing Through the DarkBono Mourits, Extra Extra, read all about it.The works in Twilight Zone aren’t illustrations of healing. But they are evidence of it.

These pieces were created while I was reassembling myself in silence. Not everything
made sense. Not everything had form. But it was art that kept me moving forward.
